Why all the fuss about Innovation? Mankind started off with no technology at all. Someone
dared to pick up a burning log and managed to tame fire. Someone looked
at a germinating seed and invented agriculture. Someone looked at a
floating log and invented boats. Someone managed to extract iron from a
piece of rock. We went on and on... non stop... Steam from a boiling
kettle inspired the steam engine. A falling apple propelled man's
imagination to end up in race to land man on the moon!!!
But we can't simply assume that technology will
grow by itself. When we see a cellphone in the hands of a servant
maid... we should remember that, it did not just pop into existence. Ideas turned into Inventions which turned into Innovations because of man's desire to apply knowledge. The "Desire to Create" brought man from the stone age to the 21st century.
There is a huge educational infrastructure that is obsessed with exam performance producing Bricks in the wall. Cradles of Innovation tries to remind the student that Exam performance is just the beginning NOT the end. It arouses the itch to 'CREATE' and a desire to rock the world. We generally tend to either underestimate the value of innovation or assume someone else will do the innovation for us. A doctor can cure a few patients while an innovator can wipe out an entire disease. Education is what remains after everything that can be forgotten has been forgotten - Albert Einstein |
